Trial in Rana Plaza murder case begins: Reports

Five years after framing of the charges, trial in the murder case filed over the 2013 Rana Plaza building collapse officially started on 31 January.

Media reports maintained this adding the trial started with recording of statements of the witnesses.

For information, Dhaka District and Session Court Judge SM Kuddus Zaman on 18 July 2016 framed charges against the accused and passed an order to begin the trial even if the same got barred as most of the accused appealed to the higher court challenging legality of the order.

It is now on 31 January 2022, after clearing the appeals, District and Session Court Judge AHM Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan recorded the statement of the plaintiff, then Sub-Inspector of Savar police station Wali Ashraf.
