ThredUp, a platform for high-end clothing in collaboration with designer Christian Siriano, has introduced ‘Thrift Logo’. These new logos are said to serve as the first universal symbol for used secondhand clothing.
The idea behind the development is to allow secondhand garments to become recognisable objects that stand for sustainability. This would inspire the customers to commit to reducing waste in fashion through resale.
Consumers can get the patches for free with any purchase or can buy them from ThredUp’s e-commerce site this week, or purchase a patch for US $ 5. Moreover, other resellers can also order these patches from the company to distribute to their own customers.
These logos will give an identity to the secondhand clothing industry while motivating the consumers to adopt the resale clothing for a sustainable environment. These patches are also made from 100 per cent recycled material.
