
South Korea-based vertically integrated textile company, Taekwang Industry, made a sustainable stride recently with the launch of its eco-friendly nylon yarn, ACECOOL-BIO.
Following the launch, in their recent announcement, the Taekwang Industry (a textile and petrochemical affiliate of Taekwang Group) also mentioned that ACECOOL-BIO is the first domestically produced yarn, which is extracted from the plant-based material and aims at tackling the limitations of chemical fibres. As a result, the product boasts enhanced moisture absorption and breathability.
The company also added that with this product they seek to address the increased demand for products with cool-touch fibres. Adding to that, Taekwang Industry stated reduced carbon emissions during the manufacturing process of this particular product by less than 50 per cent as compared to the emissions emitted in the making of the conventional cool-touch fibres. Further, this yarn is aimed towards showing superior results in dyeing and will offer more enhanced colours as compared to the traditional nylon fibres. As per the company, the ACECOOL-BIO will also shorten the dyeing process.
Designed to fit into the sportswear, innerwear, and summer workwear segments, the company official said that with this product, the company seeks to contribute towards the expansion of the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management in the fashion industry.
The official also expressed that it is also the company’s further intention to not only fuel the high-functional yarn market but also solidify its position as a premium sustainable brand. As such, the Taekwang Industry is planning on rolling out more new fibre brands in the second half of the year.
