The Spanish fashion label Courregès has decided to take a significant step towards attaining sustainable heights, as under its new Creative Director, Yolanda Zobel, the fashion brand has decided to eliminate the usage of plastic in all of its operations.
Notably, the Spain-based fashion line is renowned for using vinyl to manufacture jackets, trenches, and mini-skirts which have become a symbol for the brand. The elimination of plastic usage will mark a new beginning for the brand, keeping in mind sustainable measures.
In a press statement issued, the company cited that it is now committed towards exercising its resources and influence to turn views and solutions into positive energy.
Reportedly, the brand still has around 6,000 meters of vinyl material in its storage and with the fashion company encouraging the ‘End of Plastic’, it will from now on use a number to represent the countdown and the gradual reduction of its material stocks.
Additionally, the brand has inaugurated a small pop-up store spread across 40 sq. m. in the capital of France, Paris on Wednesday (26th September) and has also announced that the last vinyl-based collection will be sold in that store.
The new pop-up store is designed by Christophe Hamaide-Pierson and apart from the vinyl range, Courregès will also be offering a capsule collection manufactured using eco-nylon and organic cotton pieces as well as printed t-shirts, innerwear, and accessories.
The fashion brand is expecting to connect with the next generation globally and work on the potential of the post-plastic environment.
