Amir Khoshru Mahmud Chowdhury, the head of the BNP and a former minister of commerce, has said that in order to address the ongoing issue in the country’s primary export sector—the RMG industry—all other stakeholders need to take action and improve the relationship between employers and employees.
He argues that this has to be done in order to support exports, the country’s economy, and the employment of a significant number of people in this sector. Khosru made this statement at a hotel in the city while he was having a discussion with a few senior BGMEA leaders and business owners.
“I believe that all the citizens of the country irrespective of party and opinion, have to come forward and help in maintaining a peaceful work environment and production because the economy, employment, export growth, and survival of all the linkage industries of RMG sector are closely related on this”, Khoshru added.
Speaking at the event were Khondoker Rafiqul Islam, President of the BGMEA, Directors Shovon Islam, Abdullahil Rakib, Rising Group Managing Director Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, Former President of the BGMEA, Mostafa Golam Quddus, and Sheikh Mohammad Danial, Director of Dragon Sweaters Limited.
BGMEA President Khondoker Rafiqul Islam said in his speech that the association has pushed the interim government to create a special commission with an emphasis on the RMG sector. This will enable the prompt discovery of solutions for enduring problems as well as the settlement of all urgent issues through both short- and long-term planning.
