One of the strictest international standards for circular product design, Cradle to Cradle Certified® for Product Circularity, was recently attained by RE&UP, making it the first fibre manufacturer in the world to do so.
Three RE&UP products have received Platinum and Silver certifications, respectively: Next-Gen Recycled Cotton (pre- and post-consumer) and Textile-to-Textile Recycled Polyester Chips. This distinction confirms that these materials are completely compatible with safe, scalable, and repeatable cycling systems, which goes well beyond recycled content.
With an annual processing capacity of 80,000 tonnes, RE&UP, a company already functioning at an industrial scale, announced that their fibres are circular in fact as well as theory. Global fashion brands are already using the materials in their clothing, supported by infrastructure, performance, and traceability.
Based in the Netherlands, RE&UP is a circular technology firm that specialises in textile recycling, more especially textile-to-textile recycling. End-of-life textiles are to be converted into premium, useable raw materials, such as Next-Gen Polyester and Next-Gen Cotton. The method developed by RE&UP generates traceable, usable fibres and chips and can manage a variety of textile waste streams, including blended fabrics.
