
As many as 967 workers from both formal and informal sectors, lost their lives in workplace-related accidents across Bangladesh in 2022.
This is as per the survey report of Bangladesh Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Foundation, which added 152 workers died in the formal sector and 815 workers died in the informal sector even if among those, 97 per cent were male while also adding a total of 228 workers suffered workplace-related injuries from January to December 29, 2022.
The survey report further added the highest number of workers death was in the transport sector even if in in terms of casualty numbers, service sector, including those working in workshops, gas, electricity supply companies, hospitals, hotels or restaurants and Government offices, is next to the transport sector while also underlining a total of 54 workers were injured in garment industry this year, of which 28 people died.
