RegioGreenTex, which is coordinated by the European Apparel and Textile Confederation (Euratex) met with members representing 11 European nations to assess the progress of its textile circularity project.
During the three-day Annual Consortium Meeting, 43 members of RegioGreenTex were hosted by the Portuguese Centre for Textile Innovation (CITEVE) to talk about the impact of the textile circularity project.
According to Euratex, evaluating the project’s impact and progress thus far requires attending the yearly consortium conference.
Presentations and workshops, as well as networking opportunities where partners discussed common concerns and developed synergies, were stated to be crucial components of the meeting.
The outcomes of the project’s innovation thus far were apparently demonstrated by all SME partners through an exhibition with samples of clothing, yarns, textiles, and other products.
RegioGreenTex is a € 13 million (US $ 14.23 million) project to encourage investments in textile circularity that is co-funded by the European Union I3 Instrument Programme.
Research centres, regional clusters, regional development agencies, and 26 SMEs work together as part of the initiative to implement special pilot projects that will change the textile industry’s business model from linear to circular.
Euratex emphasised that in its capacity as project manager, it guarantees the initiative’s effective execution.
“RegioGreenTex is an essential piece of our wider plan to implement the EU Sustainable Textile Strategy,” stated Euratex Director General Dirk Vantyghem. It is essential to provide investment support to our SMEs in order to ensure the success of this green transition.
