Puma has been acknowledged by TIME Magazine as being among the World’s Most Sustainable Companies, attaining a score of 73.02 out of 100 and taking in the 67th spot out of 500 companies across varied sectors.
The list, created in collaboration with data firm Statista, assesses factors such as Scope 1 and 2 emissions, energy consumption related to company size, emissions reductions in current years, and the percentage of renewable energy included into operations.
Scope 1 emissions are directly caused by a company and Scope 2 are indirectly created when a company purchases power.
Scope 1 emissions begin directly from activities within a company’s control, while Scope 2 emissions occur indirectly through the purchase of electricity or other types of energy.
Puma reported attaining its science-based CO₂ reduction target seven years ahead of the calendar in early 2024. The company also has prioritised initiatives like employing renewable electricity at key suppliers, utilising less carbon-intensive materials in their products, choosing eco-friendly shipping methods, and investing in electric vehicles for their car fleet.
