Otrium, the Netharlands based digital fashion outlet managing excess inventory, is launching a garment refurbishment and repair programme for damaged returns following a three-month successful pilot scheme with Bleckmann a specialist in supply chain management for fashion and lifestyle brands.
Most of the returns that Otrium receives are easily restored and put back on sale. However, in some returns, the items are damaged. This initiative is in partnership with Bleckmann and is an extension of the three-month Renewal Workshop at Bleckmann’s facility in Almelo, the Netherlands.
The workshop refurbished more than 1,000 returned garments, shoes and accessories for Otrium each month and consequently, 70 per cent of the renewed stock was sold within seven weeks.
According to Marlot Kiveron, head of sustainability at Otrium “With hundreds of high-end labels on the platform, we needed an efficient solution tailored to the needs of a wide range of products – from shoes and coats to bags. The Renewal Workshop team worked closely with us to develop a streamlined and scalable process”.
He concluded by stating that the “Project is a milestone in our sustainability journey. It’s a key part of our ongoing commitment to finding more ways to reduce our environmental impact”.
