In a recent announcement, the Labour Ministry has mandated that all factories settle any outstanding wages, bonuses, and dues owed to workers by the 20th of Ramadan i.e. 21st March. This directive emerged from the 85th Tripartite Consultative Council (TCC) meeting, which convened on 12th March at the Ministry of Labor’s office in Bijoynagar.
The meeting addressed several important topics, including the timely payment of workers’ dues, arrangements for Eid holidays, the law and order situation in labour-intensive regions, and the distribution of products from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in industrial zones.
Chaired by AHM Shafiquzzaman, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the meeting brought together representatives from various sectors, including the government, employers, workers, multiple ministries, industrial police, the Bangladesh Army, and departments focused on factory and labour inspection. The collaborative effort aims to ensure fair treatment of workers as the festive season approaches.
