Japan Airlines (JAL) has introduced a rental clothing service called ‘Any Wear, Anywhere’ in collaboration with Sumitomo, catering to foreign tourists and business travellers on JAL-operated flights.
Available as a trial service until August 2024, passengers can conveniently select their desired outfits online prior to their trip, ranging from formal wear to casual attire based on size, season, and occasion. The rented clothes will be delivered to their hotel or Airbnb accommodation before arrival and collected afterward for washing and recycling.
Japan Airlines (JAL) promotes sustainable choices and a circular economy through its rental clothing service, sourcing from excess stock and pre-owned garments to reduce waste. Additionally, the airline plans to monitor the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by assessing the lighter aircraft weight achieved when passengers travel with fewer bags.
As ticket prices continue to rise and budget airlines explore new routes, certain travellers may seek alternative options, including the timeless and classic road trip experience.
