Spinnova, a Finland based fibre manufacturer and Fashion for Good, a global platform for innovation, have come together through latter’s Scaling Programme. Scaling Programme gives a helping hand to innovative companies that have passed the proof-of-concept phase.
Spinnova has developed a sustainable cellulose fibre using a technology that turns wood pulp into yarns without using any harmful chemicals. It is worth mentioning that the fibre has a uniquely small carbon footprint and about 99 per cent of water is preserved during the production of this revolutionary fibre.
With the help of the Scaling programme, Spinnova can easily connect to Fashion for Good’s network of corporate partners, business advisors, and industry experts that can easily invest into the unique innovation so as to accelerate the implementation and adoption of its cellulose fibre. The support and aid through this programme will be provided for a limited time period of 18 months.
Janne Poranen, CEO of Spinnova stated, “We have a fantastic relationship with Fashion for Good and are very much looking forward to the programme. Working with brands and developing the fibre to suit specific applications is the way we have strategically chosen to commercialise our innovation.”
The company is planning to achieve industrial scale by the end of the year through their new pilot factory. It will also look out for partnership with brands by licensing the technology or merging with companies for fibre production in future.
ColorZen, The Infinited Fibre Company, Softwear Automation Inc., Tamicare, Worn Again, Ambercycle, bext360 and Tyton Biosciences are the innovative companies that have affiliated to the Scaling Programme.
Fashion for Good, founded by C&A Foundation is a global platform to bring changes in the fashion industry using their unique innovations.
