The US-based fashion retailer Guess has introduced Alipay, a mobile and e-payment platform by Alibaba Group into its brick-and-mortar stores across selective outlets in the US. This partnership will allow its Chinese customers to use the app for payment in over 50 locations that include, New York, Las Vegas, and California.
Notably, the app also allows tourists to locate the closest Guess store with the help of ‘Discover’ option that uses geolocation to find the nearest outlet. The app will be accepted across a variety of Guess banners, including Guess, Guess Accessories, Guess Factory, Marciano, and GbG.
In an issued statement, Souheil Badran, President, Alipay America said that GUESS is one of those multinational recognised brands that attracts consumers from China when they visit the U.S., and the fashion retailer is excited to aid them with the checkout experience in Guess stores. “By enabling these travellers to purchase products using the Alipay app, we are making sure that their shopping experience does not get affected by any language or payment barriers,” he added.
Interestingly, earlier this month, the American fashion retailer and Alibaba group collaborated to enhance the in-shop experience and inaugurated a new concept store in Hong Kong that is completely driven by artificial intelligence (AI).
Furthermore, the Chinese company claims that its users are used to pay for everything using their phone and they face problem while travelling abroad to pay via card or cash. Marking out this as an opportunity to expand the company’s presence across the world, the e-payment platform is trying to provide its consumers with a smooth experience while they’re shopping overseas.
As per a report last year, Alipay’s acceptance has rapidly increased across the globe in recent years, it is accessible in 70 countries and supports transactions in 14 major currencies.
