The European Commission has announced the creation of three new European Partnerships, aimed at boosting innovation and sustainability across key industries. These partnerships, established under the Horizon Europe program, will focus on advanced materials, textiles, and photovoltaics, reinforcing Europe’s technological leadership and contributing to its green transition.
Aligned with the Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2025-2027, these initiatives will foster collaboration between public and private sectors. To drive sustainability in the textile sector, the European Partnership for Textiles of the Future will focus on circularity and digital innovation, with each partner investing up to US $ 32 million. The European Partnership for Innovative Advanced Materials for the EU aims to enhance industrial competitiveness in advanced materials, with a planned investment of up to US $ 271 million approximately, each by the Commission and private partners by 2030.
These partnerships will operate through dedicated Horizon Europe Work Programme calls, with the first funding opportunities set to be available in 2025. Additionally, a fourth partnership focused on Virtual Worlds will be launched later this year.
The new partnerships complement the existing portfolio of 12 co-programmed partnerships launched under the Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2021-2024.
