
The INTA (European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade) delegation, currently in Bangladesh, is likely to ask for increasing the minimum wage of the country’s garment workers and is supposed to propose the same soon in view of the increasing prices of essential commodities and cost of living.
Reports claimed this citing the sources, while also adding Bangladesh Government, too, is mulling to form a new wage board to increase the wages of garment workers this year.
On the condition of anonymity, business leaders,reportedly, maintained the delegation, which would discuss the progress of GPS facility extension for six years after its three years grace period expires as Bangladesh is scheduled to graduate from LDC status by 2026, will call for increasing the minimum wage of workers concerned.
