The European Union (EU) and Bangladesh have agreed to accelerate removal of idle containers from the Chittagong Port premises so as to enhance cargo-handling capacities and improve health and safety scenario in the port.
Media reports maintained this adding, additionally it has also been decided that approval would be issued for interchange of empty containers between Dhaka rail and river terminals.
It may be mentioned here, as suggested by the EU few months ago, Bangladesh has also agreed to launch a survey to assess the costs and benefits of up to 100 per foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country’s logistics sector as well.
