The apparel uniforms programme provider, Cintas Corporation has recycled 19.5 million PET bottles and diverted them from landfills to manufacture apparel, by using plant-based ingredients and plastic bottles to create fibres. “The theme of Earth Day this year is ‘It’s Our Turn to Lead’, serving as a reminder for everyone to step up and make a positive impact on our planet. We lead by supporting local communities and offering sustainable products and services and through these efforts, we reduce our environmental footprint and help customers to do the same,” maintains Pamela Brailsford, Senior Director, Sustainability at Cintas. In addition to its eco-apparel collections with recycled polyester, Cintas also saves energy through the use of Dupont Sorona fabric, which is utilized in its AR Red and Jay Godfrey premium suiting collections. Cintas said that the energy savings through recycled or plant-based fibres is equivalent to lighting an average-sized building for more than 43 years or powering an air-conditioner for 222 years.
