
The global materials science and digital identification solutions company Avery Dennison has teamed up with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support the Mothers@Work programme, which aims to promote maternity rights and childcare support to women workers in Bangladesh’s apparel industry.
This is as per reports which added the collaboration was announced at a recent event held in the capital Dhaka, in which representatives of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers Association (BGMEA) were present.
Reports further added that through this partnership, the Avery Dennison Foundation will provide funding of US $ 200,000 over a period of two years to expand the programme in 160 more RMG factories in the country even as it aims to build the capacity of their 2,000 staff including health workers and care providers and strengthen initiatives that provide maternity protection and breastfeeding support in the workplace.
