Leading Pakistani denim manufacturer, Artistic Milliners, has reinforced its commitment to sustainability by selecting BoiBlack TX pigment for its 100 per cent cotton-based fabrics. Developed by US biochemical developer Nature Coatings, this pigment is derived exclusively from certified waste wood by Forest Stewardship Council, aligning with Artistic Milliners’ mission to reduce the carbon footprint associated with textile products.
After the recent seed funding of US $ 2.45 million, the founding chief executive of Nature Coatings, Jane Palmer, told media their pigment was also certified carbon negative by Norway’s Accend earlier in 2023. Non-toxic, the black coating solution features a blue undertone, an 8/8 light-fastness rating, less than 0.1 per cent volatile organic compounds, and “undetectable” levels of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs).
Artistic Milliners has a proven track record of opting sustainable and eco-friendly practices within the denim industry. Renowned for their dedication to reducing environmental impact, the company has implemented initiatives focused on water conservation, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing of raw materials.
