The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) recently announced the ‘mutually agreed’ departure of chief executive officer Amina Razvi on 29th December 2023, marking the end of her eight-year tenure with the organisation.
Razvi’s leadership oversaw significant growth and developmental strides, including creating a new strategic plan in 2021, later refined in 2023. It aimed at providing clear direction for the coalition.
During this transition period, Razvi will continue collaborating with the board and the global team to ensure a seamless handover, while the SAC executive team will manage the day-to-day operations and key strategic initiatives. Additionally, a Transition Taskforce, led by Tamar Hoek, the chair of the SAC board, has been established.
“When I joined the SAC eight years ago, it was because I saw an incredible opportunity to drive positive industry transformation at scale. From the very beginning, it was clear what this organisation and community were capable of, working as a catalyst for industry collaboration”, stated Razvi in a press release.
“In that time, we’ve come a long way together: We’ve doubled our membership, launched a new strategic plan and forged key partnerships, tripled the size of the SAC team, increased adoption of the Higg Index across the value chain, and achieved so much more.”
While highlighting SAC’s role as a catalyst for industry collaboration, she added, “Partnership and community has been at the heart of our success. I wholeheartedly believe that partnership is the new leadership, and together, we’ve demonstrated what’s possible. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
