With the changing global scenario of apparel export and increasing challenges at the internal and external level, Indian apparel exporters are also adopting different strategies. Adding a new segment or exploring a different type of clients is one such strategy which is being followed by a few Indian exporters.
Usha Fabs, one of the well-known apparel exporter of Gurgaon did follow a similar strategy and succeed. The company is focussing on customized garments for its international clients. The company added this segment almost 2 years ago and got an encouraging response. The company claims to make around thousands of garments on a daily basis.
This retail export kind of business is being done by many apparel manufacturers of Jaipur already. As this segment requires a lot of involvement of the entire team, the price is generally high for such apparel products.
Rakesh Vaid, MD of the company affirmed Apparel Resources that, “making a single garment is not easy but we manage by having a proper system for this segment. I see a good future in this segment and in the next few years there will be many more players/garment exporters doing the similar kind of business.”
Furthermore, Rakesh elucidating on the company’s core business, he added that it is going as usual.
