Taypa Tekstil, one of the largest denim manufacturing units in Turkey, is spending US $ 800 million to set up a textile plant in Algeria.
The manufacturer, which has been a supplier to globally renowned fast-fashion brands like Calvin Klein and Levi’s, feels that the intent of investing in the plant is to double the production in North Africa.
Additionally, the new facility will also give an opportunity to the company to expand its product categories.
The construction of the new plant in Algeria is set to begin in 2019 and is expected to be completed by 2025.
Notably, the wholly integrated production unit of Taypa Tekstil will produce different varieties of fabrics, yarns as well as finished products.
The estimated yearly production capacity of the new plant is 30 million pieces of which 15 million pieces will be for Algeria. The other half is expected to be exported to US and Europe.
The new plant in Algeria, which could be the largest textile unit in the country, is expected to help Algeria become one of the major apparel destinations in Africa.
Taypa Tekstil exports over 80 per cent of its production to about 50 nations. The textile supplier has already spent US $ 20 million in a ready-to-wear manufacturing unit in Egypt.
