With almost 40 per cent of the cost of conversion from cotton to yarn being taken up by power expenses, textiles mills at Tirupur have decided to monitor and analyse real time power consumption at their mills. The main problem is said to be lying in the breakdown of machines, like a dislodged belt or a worn out motor could result in more power being drawn till the problem is detected. So, meters will be fitted to every machine with wireless transmitters and with the help of a centralized software, machines that consume unusually more power will be flagged, and the electrical engineer will be alerted.
Elmeasure has got this contract to execute this system in 71 mills in Tirupur, and it has done 400 such projects before.
