Poland’s largest fashion retailer, LPP S.A., has expressed strong interest in significantly increasing the volume of apparel it sources from Bangladesh, reinforcing the country’s position as the company’s most important global supply hub.
The commitment was conveyed during a meeting between LPP’s Procurement Director, Joanna Sikorska, and the president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Mahmud Hasan Khan, at the association’s office in Uttara. Senior BGMEA leaders, including Senior Vice President Inamul Haque Khan, Vice President (Finance) Mizanur Rahman and several directors, were also present.
According to a BGMEA statement, LPP communicated clear intentions to step up procurement particularly in outerwear, heavy knit, men’s underwear and joggers, and expressed willingness to collaborate closely with the association to streamline sourcing operations.
The discussion placed strong emphasis on forging long-term partnerships, strengthening supply chain stability and transparency, and advancing the capacity and competitiveness of Bangladesh’s apparel sector. Both sides also explored opportunities to promote direct exports by enabling small and medium enterprises to join the RMG Sustainability Council (RSC).
Bangladesh already tops the retailer’s sourcing destinations, with LPP currently purchasing around US $ 770 million worth of garments from the country each year. Sikorska noted that Bangladesh remains “an extremely important sourcing hub” for the company and said LPP intended to deepen its business presence in the market while ensuring continuity across its supply chain.
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan urged the Polish company to further scale up its sourcing volumes and underlined the importance of building a stronger, more strategic long-term relationship between LPP and Bangladeshi suppliers.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding mutual cooperation and advancing sustainable growth within the apparel industry.
