
Chief Minister of Jharkhand (India) Raghubar Das has advised weaving community in the state to focus on “preparing apparels to suit the market demands more” while inaugurating a three-day fashion festival organized by Jharcraft in the capital city Ranchi. He also urged Jharcraft to manufacture more “marketable and fashionable” products.
The Chief Minister also announced to bring nearly 4.82 lakh women under the new skill development programme as weaving industry is hinging crucially on the participation of women. “A fund of Rs. 700 crore has been provisioned in this year’s budget for the skill development programme,” informed the CM.

He also added, “Jharkhand produces roughly 82 per cent of the total silk that is produced in India. However, manufacturers of silk products here must produce according to the demands of the market.”
The CM further announced that the Government is gearing up to establish a State Industries Board, which will connect women of 32,000 villages for providing them alternative livelihoods.
