
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has registered a rise in certified facilities from 2014–2015. The number of certifications grew from 3,663 in 2014 to 3,814 facilities in 2015. The countries, where GOTS saw the largest rise in GOTS certification for 2015 are India – 74, Europe – 58, Turkey – 27 and Bangladesh – 21.
Claudia Kersten, GOTS Marketing Director said, “The figures show that GOTS’ credible and independent certification of the entire supply chain is an important driver for the business case for sustainability— in contrast to mere self-claims.”

GOTS defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well. Till date, GOTS also reports there are 847,749 people working in 2,799 (out of the actual 3,814) GOTS certified facilities.In United States, multiple leading textile companies multiple textile also became GOTS certified like including Draper Knitting, O Ecotextiles, and United Medical Enterprises.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a body developed through collaboration among leading standard setters that ensures the organic status of textiles through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing. The organisation which had its inception in 2006, has gained universal recognition, enabling processors and manufacturers to supply their organic textiles with one certification accepted in all major markets.
