
China has shown keen interest in Canada’s garment and textile industry, which is evident from the huge participation of Chinese firms in the Apparel Textile Sourcing Canada (ATSC) event in Canada.
The 3-day event, that held from 20 to 22 August, is Canada’s leading garment and textile international sourcing trade show.
The massive participation of companies from China holds significance amidst the ongoing trade disputes that US has with both Canada and China.
Jason Prescott, CEO, JP Communications, averred that top 10 fashion brands of China have distinctive designs and innovations for Canadian business establishments.
These brands are also looking for representatives in Canada to import as well as distribute their products.
It is worth noting that China’s apparel and textile export to Canada was US $ 4.26 billion in 2017 (12.97 per cent yoy). The import from Canada, for the same period, touched US $ 28.27 million (8.72 per cent yoy).
Clay E. Hickson, Vice President, Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production, stated that China will continue providing incentives for Canadian brands that will base their sourcing and production in China. It is a win-win situation for both the countries.
