
British luxury fabric maker Holland & Sherry has launched its operations in India through a joint venture with SK Birla Group, a Rs. 1,500 Crores Kolkata-based Group, with interests in diverse businesses like textiles, cement, plastics, heavy engineering chemicals and international trade. H&S India has plans to grow the number of outlets by 15-20 per cent in the next 4-5 years and will focus on reaching out to more outlets with shop-n-shop format.
Frank O’Reilly, Chief Operating Officer, Holland & Sherry averred, “India is the fastest growing country in the world and it is the right time for us to bring our products in the Indian market… We expect good growth in the next few years.” Holland & Sherry India Pvt. Ltd. is a 51:49 partnership, with the Indian partner holding the minority stake. The company offers fabrics that range between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 15 lakh per metre.

The brand was in the news when Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi wore its much-talked about monogrammed suit during the US President Barack Obama’s visit to India last year.
