Walmart, the US-based E-commerce giant, is set to cut over 2,000 jobs across five of its fulfillment centres in the US, according to regulatory filings.
The job cuts include over 1,000 positions at a warehouse in Forth Worth, Texas, along with almost 600 jobs in Pennsylvania, 400 in Florida, and around 200 in New Jersey. An additional reduction is planned in California.
The worker reductions at the Walmart facilities, which the company disclosed last month without providing a number, now have more detail thanks to the regulatory filings.
It’s unclear how the staffing reductions will affect total employment at Walmart, which is the largest private-sector employer in the US. However, the company may also think to reshuffle workers to save maximum positions.
But the net impact on total employment at Walmart, the largest private-sector employer in the US, remains uncertain.
Walmart is also growing in some areas as it adjusts its stores and fulfilment centres to handle more online orders, a spokesman said in an email.
