Temperley London, the iconic British fashion label, has seen a major shift in ownership as Dubai-based Times Square Group, along with its investment wing Luxutte Capital, secures a controlling stake in the brand. This move intends to leverage the label’s prowess in the UAE while setting its sights on global amplification.
Alice Temperley, the label’s founder, retains creative control, alongside CEO Luca Donnini. However, Ritesh Punjabi, the chief of Times Square, is expected to wield considerable influence, establishing himself as a significant figure in luxury retail both in the Middle East and internationally.
Navigating through challenging times, Temperley London faced setbacks from events like Brexit and the pandemic, significantly impacting its sales, which thrive on exclusive occasions like parties, red carpets, and weddings—events disrupted due to lockdowns.
Ritesh Punjabi said, “Embarking on this journey with Temperley London and Alice herself, marks a defining moment for Times Square Group. We are looking forward to creating a legacy that extends beyond Dubai and the UK. This partnership is not only about business, but about redefining the luxury fashion and lifestyle landscape in the UAE. Operating from the heart of Dubai allows us unparalleled opportunities, and we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to contribute to the city’s rise as a beacon of luxury retail on the world stage.”
The UAE remains pivotal to Temperley’s business, boasting boutiques in prime luxury destinations like the Dubai Mall and The Galleria Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi. Expansion plans are underway for a flagship store in London, envisioned to offer an immersive Temperley London experience.
Alice Temperley stated, “This collaboration unveils boundless opportunities, extending the Temperley London collection into accessories, ready-to-wear, swimwear, and footwear. I am thrilled about this transformative journey with Times Square Group, eagerly anticipating further engagement with our devoted clientele in the GCC and the wider region.”
Luca Donnini underscores the impact of the acquisition on the label’s operations, stating, “The strong funding and financial restructuring will allow a substantial improvement in our supply chain management, but equally significantly the reputation and retail experience of Time Square Group in the traditional luxury retail environment will be key to the future expansion of Temperley London and allow for a full lifestyle representation and elevated customer experience of our different product lines.”
