TikTok Shop has announced an increment in its seller fee structure as it focuses on developing the “marketplace of the future,” emphasizing live commerce and shoppable content. UK sellers will see a rise in base commission fees from 5 per cent to 9 per cent, starting 2nd September. However, the platform is introducing a Seller Missions program, allowing local sellers to reduce their fees by creating a targeted number of TikTok LIVE or shoppable videos.
In a move to foster collaboration, sellers are encouraged to partner with TikTok creators to complete Seller Missions, enhancing audience growth through shoppable content. This initiative supports TikTok’s vision of becoming a discovery commerce platform.
Additionally, TikTok Shop plans to launch a co-funded free shipping model, sharing the cost of free shipping between TikTok Shop and UK sellers. This initiative aims to boost order conversions by expanding free shipping coverage for customers.
Jan Wilk, Head of Operations at TikTok Shop UK, said: “We strive to provide the best possible experience for our sellers and buyers. This change to our seller fee structure enables us to invest further in building the marketplace of the future, including improved operations and services to help our sellers succeed.
Since its launch in 2021, TikTok Shop has not increased its seller fees. This adjustment comes as the platform continues to enhance brand awareness and sales for numerous businesses. The in-app marketplace allows users to discover and purchase products without leaving the app, featuring brands like Made By Mitchell, PrettyLittleThing, and Luxe Collective.
