Given the season’s romance with sports and taking cue from the fall runways, designers paused to steal a playful streak from the world of ice-skating. Skater skirts and dresses are whirling on the fashion catwalks, as designers flirted with high and lows of the acrobatic sport, making the circular silhouette all the more wearable.
Alternating between mild and heavy, the waist accentuating flare of the skater is delivered in winter appropriate with longer hems; and with some couturiers choosing to take the dramatic route with their overblown dresses and skirts as elaborate variations. The rendition of the trend in leather (suede and soft qualities,) calls out to the rocker chic look whereas, when constructed in fine twill and tweed, the silhouette can effortlessly celebrate vintage glamour.
