German sportswear giant, Puma SE, has announced the appointment of a new CEO as Arne Freundt will step down from his position on 11th April 2025. Freundt’s departure was made after a mutual agreement with the Supervisory Board due to differing strategic views.
Freundt has been associated with Puma for 14 years and assumed the role of CEO in November 2022, following Bjørn Gulden’s departure to Adidas.
Arthur Hoeld has been appointed as the new CEO, replacing Arne Freundt. Hoeld, has previously served as the global sales director at Adidas AG until October, will now make the reverse move to Puma.
After joining Adidas in 1998, Hoeld held a number of executive roles in marketing, brand strategy, and regional management for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The company will be jointly managed by Puma’s remaining Executive Board members, Maria Valdes (Chief Product Officer), Markus Neubrand (Chief Financial Officer), and Matthias Bäumer (Chief Commercial Officer), during the time between Freundt’s leave and Hoeld’s entrance. According to Puma, this interim leadership team has the complete trust of the Supervisory Board.
