Poshmark, the secondhand fashion marketplace, is shuttering some overseas operations and paying greater attention to America’s recommerce market.
“In order to focus on Poshmark’s North America business and drive meaningful growth in its core markets of the United States and Canada, the company has made the difficult decision to close the Poshmark marketplace in Australia, India, and the UK,” Poshmark said in an announcement.
The notice states that Poshmark users in certain nations have until October 26 to return items. Furthermore, as on Nov. 2, “buyers and sellers for India, Australia, and the U.K. will no longer have access to the marketplace via the app or web,” the business announced.
The UK branch of Poshmark had only recently begun operations. In 2021, it was extended to Australia and India.
According to a TechCrunch story quoting mobile analytics company Sensor Tower, Poshmark’s phone apps have roughly 8.1 million active monthly users. With less than 500,000 active users in the U.K., India, and Australia during the previous month, the app’s popularity has decreased in overseas countries.
In July, Poshmark introdued Posh Lens, a consumer tool designed to let shoppers search for secondhand styles with just a photo.
