The same-store apparel retail revenues in 10,939 stores of 56 companies associated with Japan Chain Stores Association (JCSA) have declined in November ’20 both on yearly and monthly basis.
The total sales in apparel category in Japanese chain stores recorded 66,677.11 million yen (US $ 644.72 million), plunging 13.30 per cent from November ’19 and 3.80 per cent from October ’20.
Menswear sales grew in November ’20 on monthly note, while it fell on yearly basis. On the other hand, womenswear and kidswear experienced loss in revenues both on M-o-M basis and Y-o-Y basis.
Menswear saw 13,062.87 million yen (US $ 126.31 million) revenues coming from sales in chain stores during November ’20, which is 7.70 per cent more than the figures of October ’20, but it’s down 17.20 per cent from November ’19.
With 17,052.57 million yen (US $ 164.89 million) revenues in November this year, womenswear saw a contraction of massive 19.60 per cent on yearly basis, while the sales were down by 2.50 per cent on monthly basis.
It’s worth mentioning here that kidswear and unisex clothing had been witnessing growth in revenues in Japanese chain stores until October ’20 but these commodities couldn’t remain positive in November.
Kidswear and unisex apparel revenues clocked 36,561.67 million yen (US $ 353.53 million) in the 11th month of 2020. The sales were down by 7.90 per cent on M-o-M basis and 8.40 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
