Nike Inc. has appointed a new senior strategy officer, in its attempt to improve the situation at the company.
According to an internal statement, 14-year Nike veteran Jennifer Hartley has been appointed chief strategy officer and joins Nike’s senior leadership team. She will begin in the position this week, a Nike spokesman said.
The decision follows efforts by Chief Executive Officer Elliott Hill to revive Nike after a challenging year marked by sluggish sales. Chief Financial Officer Matt Friend noted that Hartley will be responsible for advancing, shaping and executing Nike’s strategic priorities.
Daniel Heaf, Nike’s former chief strategy and transformation officer, left the company earlier this year when management opted to abolish his position and move the teams he was in charge of under the finance division.
