US-based sportswear brand New Balance has acquired its Italian distributor Gartner Sports, to strengthen its foothold in the European market.
The acquisition is touted to be a master stroke from the brand to expand its reach, “The sealing of this agreement, between our two companies, stands as a significant landmark for New Balance as we look towards extending the brand’s reach and broadening its influence with active consumers across our European markets,” elaborated Fran Allen, Vice President – Europe, Middle East and Africa, New Balance.

Gartner has been a distributor for New Balance since very long. On being acquired by the brand, Christian Gartner, Chief Executive of Gartner said that this was the right time for the company to forge a closer link with New Balance as both the firms share the same spirit of enterprise.
Established in 1906, New Balance is one of the world’s major sports footwear manufacturers. It sells more than 40 million pairs of shoes a year. To stay competitive in the market, the American footwear manufacturer claims to differentiate its products with technical features, such as blended gel inserts, heel counters and a greater selection of sizes, particularly for very narrow and/or very wide widths.
