Mafatlal Industries Ltd (MIL), a pioneer in textiles for decades, has for the first time diversified its business to make forays into the school and corporate uniform garment segment.
The products will be available at all Mafatlal family shops, uniform stores by Mafatlal and all school uniform retailers. Earlier, the company was the market leader in school and corporate uniform fabrics in India.
Talking about the Indian market, M B Raghunath, President (Marketing & Sales) of Mafatlal Industries Ltd stated that the market size of uniform fabric is around Rs 8,000 crore and is annually growing at 10 per cent in India.

Furthermore, the company has also launched an e-commerce website, specifically for selling uniforms. The company has come up with a unique model, where online and offline business will be merged in such a way that online will be a business and service provider to the offline retail stores.
Under readymade uniform category, the Company has an ambitious plan to touch Rs 500 crore business within the next five years. Mafatlal, Arvind Mafatlal Group’s flagship company, is expected to do around Rs 75 crore in the current year in corporate readymade uniform business.
The Company’s product portfolio comprises yarn-dyed shirting, suiting, voiles, prints, linens, bleached white fabrics, rubia, value-added and fashion denims, school uniform fabrics, corporate/ institutional uniforms, bed and bath linen and readymade garments. The sales volume of Mafatlal Industries Ltd is over 85 million meters per annum.
