American department store chain Macy’s Inc., has announced the appointment of Sharon Otterman as its Chief Marketing Officer, effective from 11th December, reporting directly to Tony Spring, the President and CEO-elect of Macy’s Inc., In her new role, Otterman will spearhead Macy’s strategic marketing initiatives, overseeing the evolution of the brand and focusing on enhancing awareness, engagement, and loyalty across all customer segments.
Otterman’s responsibilities will encompass brand activation, advertising campaigns, content strategies, overseeing creative endeavors, managing visual merchandising and branded entertainment initiatives, and shaping media strategies for the Macy’s brand.
Tony Spring expressed enthusiasm about Otterman joining Macy’s leadership team, citing her diverse background across media, entertainment, and digital transformation. Her extensive experience—spanning over 25 years—encompasses successful brand transformations for Fortune 500 companies in entertainment, media, and sports sectors. Notably, her recent tenure as Chief Marketing Officer at Caesars Entertainment saw the launch of Caesars Sportsbook, introducing a new sports betting brand in the United States while elevating the overall sports betting and gaming brand experience.
Prior to her role at Caesars Entertainment, Otterman held influential positions such as Executive Vice President and CMO at Madison Square Garden Company, Chief Marketing Officer for NBCUniversal’s News Division, and Vice President of Marketing at ESPN.
