Lululemon – a Canadian activewear and performance footwear brand – has introduced hijab head coverings in its portfolio for exercise and lifestyle pursuits.
The brand is now offering a pinless, lightweight and drawstring-adjustable performance hijab to fit under tops and a more versatile, scarf-style article in a jersey fabric.
The former is available in two sizes in both black and blue colourways, complete with reflective details, whereas the latter is a one-size garment in a dark heather grey.
Lululemon’s sweat-wicking and quick-drying, four-way stretch Luxtreme textile with added Lycra elastane fibre supplies the workout hijab with its functional properties. It is made up of 81 per cent of nylon and 19 per cent of elastane.
The lifestyle scarf is made up of using X-Static antimicrobial technology, offered by Noble Biomaterials, that provides Lululemon’s Silverescent fabric with the ability to inhibit odours from sweat, due to the application of 99.9 per cent bonded silver to the surface of every fibre.
The scarf’s fabric composition is 57 per cent polyester, 37 per cent nylon, 3 per cent Lycra elastane and 2 per cent X-Static nylon.
According to Lululemon, it had sought input from global ‘hijab wearers’ to offer distraction-free garments for multiple athletic and day-to-day activities.
