The first batch of products under Pharrell’s new direction from Louis Vuitton have been delivered two months after his appointment as the menswear creative director.
The premium brand has revealed a limited-edition line of goods created in partnership with the multi-threat visionary’s Something in the Water music festival as a lead-up to Pharrell’s debut presentation for the Maison during Paris Fashion Week in June.
According to Louis Vuitton, Pharrell did not create the collection; rather, it was made ‘in celebration of’ the House’s upcoming period. The designer’s home town of Virginia Beach is hosting the festival through Sunday. Stocked inside a three-story pyramid constructed there are three T-shirts, a graphic sweatshirt, and a checkered denim jacket.
The phrase, ‘Virgina Is For Lovers,’ gives Pharrell’s hometown state motto a Vuitton spin. On the front of T-shirts, the Maison’s monogram is combined in vivid tones with the aforementioned phrase, while the backs of the garments bear the bold text, ‘PARIS TO VA, VA TO PARIS.’ The collaboration motto is embroidered in an exact replica on the back of both the hoodie and the denim jacket, which feature LV’s Damier design.
Overall, the collection is a simple tribute to Pharrell’s beginnings while avoiding any hints as to what to anticipate from the newly appointed designer’s upcoming reign at Louis Vuitton.
The limited-edition collection is available to purchase at Louis Vuitton’s Something in the Water storefront for VIP pass holders and on the brand’s website.
