Snapdeal, which has pivoted as a value-focused e-commerce company, said that the volume in the kids category is 40 percent higher this year (January-May ’22) as compared to the equivalent period last year (January-May ’21).
With more kids’ fashion being bought online, shopping trends on Snapdeal indicated consumer preferences for items that offered ‘more value’. Complete outfits in the Rs. 499-699 range were popular with users.
The rapid growth in the kidswear category is distinct from the trends in the previous two years, where there was a greater emphasis on utilitarianwear largely for home use. The upbeat mood is reflected in a 130 per cent growth in occasionwear for children, which caters to special occasions including festivals, birthdays and other social celebrations. Similarly, the sale of ethnicwear for children is up by 263 per cent this year.
According to recent data shared by Snapdeal, non-metro locales account for more than 85 percent of its sales. A large part of the demand for kids ethnicwear was centred in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Snapdeal has expanded the choice available in the kids apparel by adding popular brands like Luke and Lilly, Hopscotch, Gini and Jony, Cherokee, Donuts, Colt, Hellcat, Kyda, Aarika, Naughty Ninos and more.
