Swedish home furnishing company IKEA opened its first ‘Hej Home’ in the Indian city of Hyderabad on November 22. The launch has come before the official opening of its debut store in the country.
IKEA Hej Home is an experience zone where consumers can touch and feel and get to know the benefits of the products offered by the retailer.
However, they (consumers) will only be able to buy the products by 2018 when the IKEA store opens.
The exact date of the opening is expected to be announced early next year. Over 7,000 home furnishing products will be offered at the store.
After Hyderabad, Mumbai will become second Indian city to host an IKEA store while Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR will be third and fourth locations. It is being said that these cities might also get a Hej Home before the formal launch of the store.
India will become the 52nd market for the company post the opening of Hyderabad store.
IKEA products are expected to be available in the price range of Rs. 50 to a few lakhs. However, the company is yet to take the final call on the pricing for the Indian market.
