Minju Kim, the winner of H&M Design Award 2013 has developed nine women’s pieces and two accessories with the H&M design team to be sold at select H&M stores this fall. The 27-year old Masters student from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, won the H&M Design Award 2013 with her collection titled “Dear My Friend”, inspired by Japanese Manga cartoonist Junji Ito. “Creating this collection with H&M has been an amazing experience.
My designs are about turning characters into outfits, and it’s exciting to think that these characters will soon be worn by people around the world.” expressed Minju Kim. The collection comprises of a collarless coat in yellow, a short jacket in two contrasting jacquards, a cape made of black wool, a neoprene-fronted sweatshirt, a panelled mini dress mixing matt with shine and jacquard trousers. It also includes a black & white wedge platform lace-up and a turquoise leather collar.
