HanesBrands (HBI), the world’s largest supplier of collegiate fan apparel, has announced a new partnership with the University of California, Berkeley along with University of Texas, The Ohio State University, the University of North Carolina, the University of Tennessee, among others, that have primary apparel partnerships with HBI.
The 10-year strategic agreement gives HBI exclusive rights to create, manufacture and distribute fanwear across the U.S.
A partnership extension with HanesBrands follows a detailed analysis of the University of California’s trademark licensing programme and a competitive proposal process completed in conjunction with the University’s exclusive licensing agent.
The deal broadens the University’s retail footprint and includes the company’s iconic Champion and Hanes brands, the eco-forward Alternative Apparel brand and the garment-dyed Comfort Wash brand.
As the President of Champion’s global activewear division, Vanessa LeFebvre commented, “We are thrilled to enter into a long-term partnership with Cal. Cal’s varied students, supporters and alumni from all over the world are reflected in the Champion brand’s global appeal and commitment to inclusivity.” She further added that, “We’re excited to design fashion-forward, ethically crafted clothing that promotes excitement and engagement.”
