Football Australia has announced a 10-year contract extension with official apparel partner Nike in a deal that will take the long-standing partnership into a third decade.
With this massive contract, FA and Nike will have the longest-running collaboration of any Australian federation or club.
Football Australia has stated that a percentage of Nike’s recent investment will go towards the federation’s Legacy ’23 initiative, which aims to use a number of initiatives stemming from the excitement created by the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to harness the growth of the women’s game.
For the ensuing ten years, Nike will be the official clothing partner of the Subway Socceroos, CommBank Matildas, Pararoos, ParaMatildas, and all junior and youth men’s and women’s teams.
FA CEO James Johnson says the contract extension is representative of the Australian national team’s growth as a global brand. “This is a pivotal moment for Australian football,” he said.
The extended partnership demonstrates Nike’s long-term dedication to Australian football and supports not only the country’s elite national teams but also Football Australia’s thriving grassroots participation and inclusivity programmes, as well as the latter’s Legacy ’23 strategy, which aims to increase the number of young girls and women who can play the game, he added.
