Samantha Wellington has been appointed by eBay Inc. to the positions of senior vice president, chief legal officer, general counsel, and secretary. Marie Oh Huber, who served as general counsel for the company for nine years until leaving in June, will be replaced.
Wellington will oversee all worldwide facets of eBay’s legal department in this capacity, the company announced in a release. This includes work related to government relations, intellectual property, employment, litigation, regulatory compliance, and corporate work across our financial services, marketplaces, and product and technology organisations. She will start working for eBay on 7th October 2024, and will answer to CEO Jamie Iannone.
“Her passion for empowering small businesses aligns perfectly with eBay’s purpose, and I’m excited to welcome her to the team,” said Jamie Iannone.
“My parents started their business by selling skateboard parts at the open market in Sydney, so I have a deep appreciation for eBay’s role in empowering businesses of all sizes,” added Samantha Wellington.
Wellington comes to the company from TriNet, where she most recently led a team of professionals in legal, compliance, government affairs, customer service, sales, operations, product management, engineering, technology, and risk as executive vice president of business affairs, chief legal officer, and secretary. She worked with Oracle for 12 years, holding several high-level legal positions, before joining TriNet.
