Decathlon has announced a new leadership structure for the UK and Ireland, appointing Elena Pecos as chief executive and Romain Gravigny as chief operating officer. The move officially combines operations across the two territories under a single leadership team.
Pecos, who joined Decathlon in Spain in 2006, has held a wide range of roles including store management, finance leadership in Spain and France, and international chief financial officer positions in Chile and within the company’s circular economy division. Most recently, she served as chief executive of Decathlon Ireland.
Gravigny brings more than 20 years of experience with Decathlon, having led store networks and operations across several markets. He most recently served as chief executive at Decathlon Australia. In his new role, he will focus on operational excellence, enhancing customer experience and driving growth across the UK and Ireland.
The appointments come amid a period of renewed momentum for the sports retailer, following a year of significant investment and transformation. In 2024, Decathlon modernised 15 flagship stores in the UK, launched a new e-commerce platform, and completed a warehouse automation project.
Pecos said the focus would be on building on the achievements of her predecessor, Eric, and accelerating the company’s digital transformation. She noted that this progress had already brought the business closer to its customers and made sport more accessible to communities across both markets.
Gravigny emphasised the importance of keeping customers central to Decathlon’s operations. He stated that the ongoing transformation strategy, both in-store and online, would continue to deliver on the company’s mission of helping more people discover the benefits of sport.
Decathlon currently operates 45 stores across the UK and Ireland and projects turnover of US $ 538 million in 2025.
