VF Corporation, a prominent collection of active-lifestyle brands, disclosed the commencement of operations at its recently inaugurated distribution centre in Ontario, California recently. The facility is expected to employ around 550 individuals during peak periods.
The newly constructed facility spans an impressive 1.2 million square feet, making it the largest and most efficient distribution centre among VF’s extensive global network of 46 centres.
In collaboration with Vanderlande Industries, VF has equipped the facility with cutting-edge automation and advanced capabilities, ensuring state-of-the-art operations.
With an impressive annual shipping capacity of 76 million units, the centre will primarily cater to Vans® and The North Face® initially. However, it also possesses the flexibility to accommodate additional VF brands in the future.
Designed with a digital-first approach, the centre boasts a remarkable capability to ship 485,000 units per day. This represents double the processing capacity and efficiency of a conventional distribution centre.
Notably, it enables seamless next-day e-commerce fulfilment for customers residing in California, Nevada, Arizona, and southern Utah.
The recruitment process for the fulfilment centre was conducted throughout the early months of 2023. A significant number of roles have already been filled, demonstrating successful staffing for the facility. Moreover, as the volume of operations grows, additional operator positions will be added to accommodate the increased demand.
